Behind The Lens
Hi, I’m Maria.
Photography wasn’t something I set out to pursue. It started with a phone camera, walks around Brooklyn, and a growing appreciation for the beauty hiding in everyday moments. What began as a way to slow down and reconnect with the world gradually became something much bigger.
Curiosity led me to explore different cameras, from a rented Fujifilm to learning on a Canon Rebel T6, and eventually to getting a Fujifilm of my own. Along the way, I’ve added an Instax Mini Evo and even a macro lens for my phone. I’ve continued learning through an online photography masterclass, hands-on practice, and plenty of experimentation.
Photography has also introduced me to a wonderful creative community. I’ve participated in photo meetups, collaborated with photographers I admire through photo-editing exchanges, and become a volunteer moderator in a photography community.
Along the way, my work has been featured by Prospect Park three times and shared by Fujifilm on Instagram Stories. Those moments have been unexpected and meaningful reminders of how far this journey has taken me.
Today, I’m drawn to flowers, landscapes, NYC details, reflections, and the unexpected moments that make me stop and look again. I’m also exploring portraits and using photography to connect with people and share stories that matter.
I’m still learning, still experimenting, and still discovering where this journey will take me. And that’s one of the things I love most about it.
